Roy Wayne Ward

	Roy Wayne Ward, 78, of Odin, formerly of Pinckneyville, died Friday, September 20, 2002 at his home.
	He was born December 12, 1923 in Kell, the son of Rev. J.A. and Amelia Hawkins Ward, who preceded him in death.
	A retired Regional Manager for Pioneer Seed Co., he was also engaged in farming.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Salem, an Ordained Deacon and a former Sunday School teacher for many years.   He was a member of the Marion County Antique Tractor Club.  He served during WW II in the United States Marines and was a VFW member.
	He married Mabel Taylor at St. Charles, Mo. on May 9, 1942 and she survives in Odin.
	Also surviving are his son, Jerry L. Ward of Portland, Ore.; daughters, Dr. Janet Ward Broombaugh and husband Gene of Pinckneyville and Julie Lynn Ward Evans of Dallas, Tex.; son-in-law, Keith Evans of Bement; sister, Naomi Johnson of Odin; grandchildren, Jason and Sarah Ward of Mt. Zion, Gena Broombaugh of Carbondale, Jana and Caleb Rath of Carterville, Lcpl. Jeremy Ward Broombaugh, U.S. Marines serving in Japan and fiancee Rachel Downs of DuQuoin, Jordan Ward and Jennifer Ward, both of Portland, Ore. and great-grandchildren, Jacob Ward and Cayleigh Rath.
	In addition to his parents, brothers Fred and Gerald Ward preceded him in death.
	Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 24 at the First Baptist Church in Salem with Revs. Andy DeWitt and Robert Ward officiating.  Burial followed in the County Line Cemetery at Kell with military honors accorded at the gravesite by the Salem American Legion Post.
	Visiting hours were from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem and from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the church on Tuesday.
	Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the First Baptist Church.
